Smart Growth on the Ground: Squamish

Smart Growth on the Ground

In February 2005, Squamish residents and stakeholders attended a learning session and a series of small group workshops to set targets on priority growth issues. Using the results of these workshops, the SGOG team will develop a set of instructions to guide an intensive 4-day planning and design charrette in April. The charrette is pivotal in the Smart Growth on the Ground process. Based on detailed community input and review, a team of community representatives, local government staff and officials, and invited experts will spend about 40 hours together creating a neighbourhood concept plan for the downtown Squamish study area. This concept plan can then inform policy, design and building decisions to make smart growth a reality in Squamish.
