In May 2008, we hosted another round of open houses to gather community feedback on the draft land use plan. The events were attended by approximately 300 people. <br> <br> - The <a href="http://cts.vresp.com/c/?SmartGrowthBC/b587b70356/TEST/002dc3b93c" target="_blank"><span style='font-size:9.0pt'>Vancouver City Planning Commission</span></a> to develop a neighbourhood amenity mapping project, <i>YouMAP</i>. The stakeholders of two Vancouver neighbourhoods will build an inventory of the strengths, weaknesses, and gifts of their community. In the process, we will start understanding how we can maintain the livability and uniqueness of our neighbourhoods in this time of rapid change. <br> <br> - The <a href="http://cts.vresp.com/c/?SmartGrowthBC/b587b70356/TEST/479b3404f8" target="_blank"><span style='font-size:9.0pt'>City of Vernon</span></a> to assist with their 2008 Plan Vernon OCP review. Throughout the process, we have engaged well over 1,400 residents and land-owners. We presented local stakeholders with three growth options generated directly through communty input and the residents overwhelmingly chose the smart growth path. This initiative will focus on forging community-specific solutions for the downtown core of Prince George, particularly around energy and climate change issues. This Smart Growth on the Ground project has potential to serve as a model for the rest of the City and beyond. <br> <br> Smart Growth BC is also partnering with the <a href="http://cts.vresp.com/c/?SmartGrowthBC/b587b70356/TEST/d52403de38" target="_blank"><span style='font-size:9.0pt'>Squamish Sustainability Corporation</span></a>, and the <a href="http://cts.vresp.com/c/?SmartGrowthBC/b587b70356/TEST/f53c16cf67" target="_blank"><span style='font-size:9.0pt'>Federation of Canadian Municipalities</span></a> to host a delegation of 40 municipal decision-makers from across Canada on August 8th, and share with them our Squamish Smart Growth on the Ground experience. Once the mapping is complete, we will be using the information to create 3D visualization scenarios of the corridor based on future population growth predictions.
